43
Clex - Command line File Manager

44

45 To navigate through your folders and directories you can use
cd

46 on the command line or launch the 'Clex File Manager'. Using ncurses,
47 clex is fast and easy to use and can be configured through the files
48 ~/.clexrc and ~/.clexbm (bookmarks) or via the panel (ctrl -g).
49 To start clex from a terminal or console:
50

51

52 $ clex
53

55
56
PCmanFM - File Manager

57

58 PCmanFM is a file manager providing many useful functions for daily tasks
59 such as managing devices, opening terminals in the current directory,
60 tabbed browsing, drag and drop, creating directories or managing file
61 permissions. It contains bookmarks to allow you to browse faster, search
62 functions and much more. PCmanFM can be launched with some command line
63 options - you can set the wallpaper to display or open folders in new
64 tabs, etc. For a full list of options:
$ pcmanfm --help-all
.
65

66

67 PCmanFM supports hotkeys (firefox) and the context menu
68 (right click on file/directory) makes it easy to unpack
69
.taz .gz
archives, compress and create archives.
70

72
73
Htop - View system processes

74

75 Htop is a system process viewer that displays cpu load, memory state (RAM)
76 and swap used. It can also display the number of tasks, uptime and PIDs
77 of active processes. Htop can be used with the keyboard in console mode,
78 the mouse with a X terminal (xterm) and provides configuration options (F2).
79 Htop can also kill processes - you can select items with the up/down
80 arrows or a mouse click. Note htop also functions via SSH and can be used
81 to monitor a remote server:
82

83

84 # tazpkg get-install htop
85

87
88
Mountbox - Mount devices

89

90 Mountbox is a small GTK+ application to quickly mount media such as a
91 USB drive, hard drive or cdrom. Mountbox can be launched from a terminal
92 or via the Tools menu (System Tools). Simply specify the peripheral
93 (Device) and the mount point, ie. the directory where you want to access
94 the media in question. Typically a CD is mounted on /media/cdrom, a USB
95 key on /media/flash and disk drives on the local machine on /mnt. Note
96 the Handbook also contains more
97 information.
98

100
101
Gparted - Partition a hard drive

102

103 Gparted is a graphical application making it possible to manage the
104 partitions of a local hard drive or USB media. It allows you to reformat,
105 resize or check a partition on a hard drive and is the tool of choice if
106 you need to prepare a partition to install SliTaz. Gparted supports proper
107 GNU/Linux filesystems (ext2 and ext3) via mkfs, and Parted automatically
108 handles dependancies.
109

111
Support FAT and NTFS filesystems

112

113 To have the support of FAT16 or Windows FAT32 filesystems, you must
114 install the package
dosfstools
. To enable read/write support
115 for NTFS partitions:
fuse
,
ntfs-3g
and
116
ntfsprogs
.
