43
Clex - Command line File Manager

44

45 To navigate through your folders and directories you can use
cd

46 on the command line or launch the 'Clex File Manager'. Using ncurses,
47 clex is fast and easy to use and can be configured through the files
48 ~/.clexrc and ~/.clexbm (bookmarks) or via the panel (ctrl -g).
49 To start clex from a terminal or console:
50

51

52 $ clex
53

55
56
PCmanFM - File Manager

57

58 PCmanFM is a file manager providing many useful functions for daily tasks
59 such as managing devices, opening terminals in the current directory,
60 drag and drop, creating directories or managing file permissions. It
61 contains bookmarks to allow you to browse faster, search functions and
62 much more. PCmanFM can be launched with some command line options - you
63 can set the wallpaper to display or open folders in new tabs, etc. For a
64 full list of options:
65
$ pcmanfm --help-all
.
66

67

68 The context menu (right click on file/directory) makes it easy to unpack
69
.taz .gz
archives, compress and create archives. PCmanFM
70 allows you to work quickly and effectively.
71

73
74
Htop - View system processes

75

76 Htop is a system process viewer that displays cpu load, memory state (RAM)
77 and swap used. It can also display the number of tasks, uptime and PIDs
78 of active processes. Htop can be used with the keyboard in console mode,
79 the mouse with a X terminal (xterm) and provides configuration options (F2).
80 Htop can also kill processes - you can select items with the up/down
81 arrows or a mouse click. Note htop also functions via SSH and can be used
82 to monitor a remote server:
83

84

85 # tazpkg get-install htop
86

88
89
Mountbox - Mount devices

90

91 Mountbox is a small GTK+ application to quickly mount media such as a
92 USB drive, hard drive or cdrom. Mountbox can be launched from a terminal
93 or via the Tools menu (System Tools). Simply specify the peripheral
94 (Device) and the mount point, ie. the directory where you want to access
95 the media in question. Typically a CD is mounted on /media/cdrom, a USB
96 key on /media/flash and disk drives on the local machine on /mnt. Note
97 the Handbook also contains more
98 information.
99

101
102
Gparted - Partition a hard drive

103

104 Gparted is a graphical application making it possible to manage the
105 partitions of a local hard drive or USB media. It allows you to reformat,
106 resize or check a partition on a hard drive and is the tool of choice if
107 you need to prepare a partition to install SliTaz. Gparted supports proper
108 GNU/Linux filesystems (ext2 and ext3) via mkfs, and Parted automatically
109 handles dependancies.
110

112
Support FAT and NTFS filesystems

113

114 To have the support of FAT16 or Windows FAT32 filesystems, you must
115 install the package
dosfstools
. To enable read/write support
116 for NTFS partitions:
fuse
,
ntfs-3g
and
117
ntfsprogs
.
