    1.42 +<h3>Gcolor2 - Select and manage colors</h3>
    1.43 +<p>
1.44 +Gcolor2 is a tool to select and retain palette colors. It can be useful for the creation of SliTaz themes
1.45 +for example. It can be found in the Graphics category or run from the command line:
    1.46 +</p>
    1.47 +<pre> $ gcolor2 &amp;
    1.48 +</pre>
    1.49 +
    1.50 +<a name="gimp"></a>
    1.51 +<h3>Gimp - Manipulate and create images</h3>
    1.52 +<p>
1.53 +The GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation) is software that can manipulate images to a high quality level.
1.54 +It allows you to do what you would expect from an application that processes images, ie layers, filters,
1.55 +support scripts adding functionality etc. GIMP supports a large number of image formats such as:
1.56 +PNG, JPEG, XPM, PPM, TIFF, PostScript, PSD, it also offers it's own XCF format. To install GIMP:
    1.57 +</p>
    1.58 +<pre> # tazpkg get-install gimp
    1.59 +</pre>
    1.60 +<p>
1.61 +GIMP is scalable and can be configured with the main interface - configuration files, brushes and personal
1.62 +scripts are located in the <code>~/.gimp-2.2</code> directory.
    1.63 +</p>
    1.64 +
    1.65 +<a name="gqview"></a>
    1.66 +<h3>GQview - Images manager</h3>
    1.67 +<p>
1.68 +GQview is very light and quick and allows you to navigate rapidly between images by selecting files
1.69 +in your directory tree with a single mouse click. It supports slideshows, image rotation, adding
1.70 +keywords and tags, drag and drop and can display EXIF data. It also allows you to edit images
1.71 +in the software of your choice (Mtpaint, GIMP for example). To install GQview:
    1.72 +</p>
    1.73 +<pre> # tazpkg get-install gqview
    1.74 +</pre>
    1.75 +
    1.76 +<a name="jpeg"></a>
    1.77 +<h3>jpeg - JPEG command line tools</h3>
    1.78 +<p>
1.79 +To allow applications that use JPEG to function, linked libraries must be provided by the package
1.80 +<code>jpeg-6b</code>, this package also contains some tiny utilities that can be used on the command
1.81 +line such as <code>cjpeg</code> and <code>djpeg</code>. To modify JPEG images on the command line you
1.82 +can also use <code>jpegtran</code>, installed by default on SliTaz, <code>jpegtran</code> allows you to
1.83 +rotate images via the <code>-rotate</code> option. To find out all of the options available for these
1.84 +tools, just specify the <code>--help</code> option. Example:
    1.85 +</p>
    1.86 +<pre> $ cjpeg --help
    1.87 +</pre>
    1.88 +
    1.89 +<a name="mtPaint"></a>
    1.90 +<h3>mtPaint - Image processing</h3>
    1.91 +<p>
1.92 +mtPaint is an application for the creation and retouching of PNG, TIFF,
1.93 +XPM and BMP images. It offers many simple, lightweight, fast functions like
    1.94 +capture screen (screenshot) which you can access via the menu --&gt; Graphics --&gt;
1.95 +Grab screenshot, or by simply typing the following:
    1.96 +</p>
    1.97 +<pre> $ mtpaint -s

    4.56 +<h3>Cdrkit - Burn and manipulate CD/DVD-R or RW</h3>
    4.57 +<p>
4.58 +To burn and handle CD/DVD-R or RW, SliTaz provides the Cdrkit utility
4.59 +and a graphical interface <code>burnbox</code> which you will find in the menu.
4.60 +The tools in <code>wodim</code> make it possible to burn CD/DVD and erase
4.61 +CD/DVD-RW. When used with <code>genisoimage</code>, it can also create images in the
4.62 +ISO 9660 format. Burning on the command line requires us to know the device/writer (dev)
4.63 +name and wodim provides several possibilities to know which drive to use and specify it when burning
4.64 +to optical media. If you run wodim with the <code>-devices</code> option, it will automatically
4.65 +search for a good device and display it, the <code>-checkdrive</code> option allows you to check the
4.66 +recognized device and <code>-scanbus</code> will display in relation to the system bus.
    4.67 +Examples (as <em>root</em>):
    4.68 +</p>
    4.69 +<pre> # wodim -devices
    4.70 + Or:
    4.71 + # wodim -checkdrive
4.72 + For the bus: # wodim -scanbus
    4.73 +</pre>
    4.74 +<h4>Create an ISO 9660 image</h4>
    4.75 +<p>
4.76 +To burn data on to a CD/DVD, you must first have an ISO image. To begin we must create a directory to
4.77 +contain all the files to be burnt, you can copy your files on the command line with <code>cp</code>,
4.78 +the file manager Clex or graphically with emelFM2. To create a directory named <code>iso/</code>
4.79 +in the root of user space and copy all the files contained in <code>Documents/</code>:
    4.80 +</p>
    4.81 +<pre> $ mkdir ~/iso
    4.82 + $ cp -a Documents/* ~/iso
    4.83 +</pre>
    4.84 +<p>
4.85 +Create an ISO image named <code>image.iso</code>, using the <code>genisoimage</code> tool and
4.86 +specify the root directory containing the files to be included in the ISO:
    4.87 +</p>
    4.88 +<pre> $ genisoimage -o image.iso ~/iso
    4.89 +</pre>
    4.90 +<p>
4.91 +Note that there are many options that you can use to create ISOs, one of the most widely used is the
4.92 +extension <code>-R</code>, signifying <em>Rock ridge</em>, this allows the use of names of up to 255 characters,
4.93 +it also supports symlinks and file permissions. To see all the available options,
4.94 +simply type <code>-help</code>. Example of creating an ISO image using the <code>-R</code> option:
    4.95 +</p>
    4.96 +<pre> $ genisoimage -o image.iso -R ~/iso
    4.97 +</pre>
    4.98 +<h4>Burn an ISO image</h4>
    4.99 +<p>
4.100 +To burn an ISO image in the 9660 format either created by yourself or downloaded from the web,
4.101 +you must use <code>wodim</code> specifying the proper device (<code>dev</code>) to burn
   4.102 +the CD/DVD. Example using the verbose mode (<code>-v</code>), with the <em>device</em> <code>hdc</code>
4.103 +and data contained in an ISO image named <code>image.iso</code>:
   4.104 +</p>
   4.105 +<pre> # wodim -v dev=/dev/hdc image.iso
   4.106 +</pre>
   4.107 +<p>
   4.108 +Another example setting the (<em>speed</em>) to burn as 8x :
   4.109 +</p>
   4.110 +<pre> # wodim -v speed=8 dev=/dev/hdc image.iso
   4.111 +</pre>
   4.112 +<h4>Erase CD-RW/DVD-RW</h4>
   4.113 +<p>
4.114 +You can quickly erase a CD-RW/DVD-RW using wodim with the blank=fast option. Example using the
   4.115 +<em>device</em> <code>hdc</code> in verbose mode:
   4.116 +</p>
   4.117 +<pre> # wodim -v blank=fast dev=/dev/hdc
   4.118 +</pre>
   4.119 +<p>
4.120 +Or you can have a full erase using the blank=all option (this will take a bit longer):
   4.121 +</p>
   4.122 +<pre> # wodim -v blank=all dev=/dev/hdc
   4.123 +</pre>
