1 The smartmontools package contains two programs (smartctl and smartd)
2 to control and monitor storage systems using the Self-Monitoring,
3 Analysis and Reporting Technology System (SMART) built into most modern
4 ATA/SATA, SCSI/SAS and NVMe disks.
5 In many cases, these utilities will provide advanced warning of disk
6 degradation and failure.
7 Smartmontools was originally derived from the Linux smartsuite package
8 and actually supports ATA/SATA, SCSI/SAS and NVMe disks and also
9 SCSI/SAS tape devices.
