1 PortAudio is a free, cross-platform, open-source, audio I/O library.
2 It lets you write simple audio programs in 'C' or C++ that will
3 compile and run on many platforms including Windows, Macintosh OS X,
4 and Unix (OSS/ALSA).
5 It is intended to promote the exchange of audio software between
6 developers on different platforms.
7 Many applications use PortAudio for Audio I/O.
9 PortAudio provides a very simple API for recording or playing sound
10 using a simple callback function or a blocking read and write interface.
11 Example programs are included that play sine waves, process audio input
12 (guitar fuzz), record and playback audio, list available audio devices, etc.
