1 The JasPer Project is an open-source initiative to provide a free
2 software-based reference implementation of the codec specified in
3 the JPEG-2000 Part-1 standard (i.e., ISO/IEC 15444-1).
4 This project was started as a collaborative effort between Image
5 Power, Inc. and the University of British Columbia.
6 Presently, the ongoing maintenance and development of the JasPer
7 software is being coordinated by its principal author, Michael Adams,
8 who is affiliated with the Digital Signal Processing Group (DSPG)
9 in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the
10 University of Victoria.
12 JasPer includes a software-based implementation of the codec
13 specified in the JPEG-2000 Part-1 standard (i.e., ISO/IEC 15444-1).
14 The JasPer software is written in the C programming language.
