1 Libpcap is a system-independent interface for user-level packet capture.
2 Libpcap provides a portable framework for low-level network monitoring.
3 Applications include network statistics collection, security monitoring,
4 network debugging, etc. Since almost every system vendor provides a
5 different interface for packet capture, and since we've developed several
6 tools that require this functionality, we've created this system-independent
7 API to ease in porting and to alleviate the need for several
8 system-dependent packet capture modules in each application.
