1 This distribution is an implementation of RFC-5905
2 "Network Time Protocol Version 4: Protocol and Algorithms
3 Specification".
4 NTP is widely used to synchronize a computer to Internet
5 time servers or other sources, such as a radio or
6 satellite receiver or telephone modem service.
7 It can also be used as a server for dependent clients.
8 It provides accuracies typically less than a millisecond
9 on LANs and up to a few milliseconds on WANs.
10 Typical NTP configurations utilize multiple redundant
11 servers and diverse network paths in order to achieve
12 high accuracy and reliability.
14 This distribution includes a simulation framework in which
15 substantially all the runtime NTP operations and most
16 features can be tested and evaluated.
17 This has been very useful in exploring in vitro response
18 to unusual circumstances or over time periods impractical
19 in vivo.
