paul@560 28 SliTaz contributors are proud to announce the availability of a new
paul@560 29 Cooking ISO image based on over 2100 packages available in the SliTaz
paul@560 30 repository. The full system has been rebuilt with a new toolchain
paul@560 31 using Glibc 2.10.1 and GCC 4.4.1. This new Cooking uses the Linux
paul@560 32 kernel 2.6.30.6 with better hardware support and more built-in
paul@560 33 modules. The boot process has been further improved and the boot time
paul@560 34 is now faster than ever. Major packages found on the LiveCD such as
paul@560 35 Firefox have been updated to the current stable version. Home-made
paul@560 36 GUI boxes have been enhanced. Tazpkg packages manager supports new
paul@560 37 features including the conversion of deb/rpm/arch/slackware/ipk
paul@560 38 packages to Slitaz native format. The ISO image includes a new
paul@560 39 Openbox, GTK and icons theme for an elegant and more beautiful
paul@560 40 desktop. We have also removed ePDFview and switched to an online PDF
paul@560 41 viewer. This ISO image, however, is a bit bigger than 30 Mb (31.5)
paul@560 42 due to a bigger Kernel and many new dependencies.
paul@560 43
paul@560 44 We would also like to announce that the SliTaz project has a new
paul@560 45 support forum and a new community platform where everyone is welcome
paul@560 46 to share and to get involved! This new Cooking ISO is as always
paul@560 47 downloadable from the website download section.

pankso@557 57 During the LinuxDays show in Switzerland, the association will have
pankso@557 58 a booth in the Association Village and a lecture will be given on
pankso@557 59 Wednesday morning. The lecture is a case study with a corporate view
paul@487 60 based on using a "SliTaz Business Server" with a switchboard,
pankso@557 61 integrated ERP, mail, LDAP, etc... During the 3 days, the exhibition
pankso@557 62 stand will be manned by members of the SliTaz project. The booth will
pankso@557 63 offer demonstrations, including the creation of bootable USB keys
pankso@557 64 (LiveUSB) and cdroms. The LinuxDays LiveCD will contain a selection
pankso@557 65 of software designed for mobile use. The exhibition lounge will also
pankso@557 66 have a forum and we will gladly answer any questions. So feel free
pankso@557 67 to visit us! Information can be found on SliTaz Labs:

pankso@557 107 Continually seeking to improve the distribution and the services we
pankso@557 108 offer, we are proud to announce the launch of SliTaz Labs. This
pankso@557 109 platform makes it possible for contributors to collaborate more
pankso@557 110 effectively, report bugs or request new features. The Labs provide
pankso@557 111 each project with a wiki, a bug/issues tracker, news, etc. The
pankso@557 112 laboratories provide an overview of activity on the project and track
pankso@557 113 the release of regular updates. Register to participate and leave a
pankso@557 114 comment. The project is also proud to announce 2 new mirrors: In
pankso@557 115 Switzerland, hosted by SWITCHmirror (10 Gbits/s) and hosted in China
paul@355 116 by LupaWorld, thanks for supporting us.
