al@1025 29 4 November 2009 - New Cooking 20091104
pankso@923 30
SliTaz contributors are proud to announce the availability of a new Cooking
pankso@923 31 ISO image based on over 2100 packages available in the SliTaz repository.
pankso@923 32 The full system has been rebuilt with a new toolchain using Glibc 2.10.1
pankso@923 33 and GCC 4.4.1. This new Cooking uses the Linux kernel 2.6.30.6 with better
pankso@923 34 hardware support and more built-in modules. The boot process has been further
pankso@923 35 improved and the boot time is now faster than ever. Major packages found on
pankso@923 36 the LiveCD such as Firefox have been updated to the current stable version.
pankso@923 37 Home-made GUI boxes have been enhanced. Tazpkg packages manager supports new
pankso@923 38 features including the conversion of deb/rpm/arch/slackware/ipk packages to
pankso@923 39 Slitaz native format. The ISO image includes a new Openbox, GTK and icons
pankso@923 40 theme for an elegant and more beautiful desktop. We have also removed
pankso@923 41 ePDFview and switched to an online PDF viewer. This ISO image, however,
pankso@923 42 is a bit bigger than 30 Mb (31.5) due to a bigger Kernel and many new
pankso@923 43 dependencies.

pankso@923 44
We would also like to announce that the SliTaz project has a new
pankso@923 45 support forum and a new
pankso@923 46 community platform where
pankso@923 47 everyone is welcome to share and to get involved! This new Cooking ISO
pankso@923 48 is as always downloadable from the website download section:

pankso@923 59 etc...
pankso@923 60

pankso@923 61

pankso@923 62 During the 3 days, the exhibition stand will be manned by members
pankso@923 63 of the SliTaz project. The booth will offer demonstrations, including the
pankso@923 64 creation of bootable USB keys (LiveUSB) and cdroms. The LinuxDays LiveCD
pankso@923 65 will contain a selection of software designed for mobile
pankso@923 66 use. The exhibition lounge will also have a forum and we will gladly answer
pankso@923 67 any questions. So feel free to visit us! Information can be found on

al@1025 130 28 Feb 2009 - New Cooking 20090228
pankso@923 131

pankso@923 132 Getting ready for the next stable release! - The SliTaz project is proud
pankso@923 133 to publish a new Cooking version with a lot of bug fixes, updates, improvements
pankso@923 134 and new features. PCI/USB device auto-detection is now handled by Tazhw and

pankso@923 136 Tazndis also has a simple GUI which lets you manage Windows drivers in a
pankso@923 137 user friendly interface. The graphical packages manager is also much simpler
pankso@923 138 to use and LiveUSB media such as a USB key can easily be created through a box.
pankso@923 139 Netbox displays all interfaces and the new Wifibox can connect to
pankso@923 140 wireless essids, manage favorite networks and configure card drivers
pankso@923 141 manually or through Tazhw. The desktop has a GUI to enable or disable
pankso@923 142 applications started with an Openbox session and Ivman with desktopkbox
pankso@923 143 provides a lightweight notification system. You can
al@1009 144 download this new ISO image from one of the
