1.94 +
4 November 2009 - New Cooking 20091104
1.95 +
SliTaz contributors are proud to announce the availability of a new Cooking
1.96 +	ISO image based on over 2100 packages available in the SliTaz repository.
1.97 +	The full system has been rebuilt with a new toolchain using Glibc 2.10.1
1.98 +	and GCC 4.4.1. This new Cooking uses the Linux kernel 2.6.30.6 with better
1.99 +	hardware support and more built-in modules. The boot process has been further
1.100 +	improved and the boot time is now faster than ever. Major packages found on
1.101 +	the LiveCD such as Firefox have been updated to the current stable version.
1.102 +	Home-made GUI boxes have been enhanced. Tazpkg packages manager supports new
1.103 +	features including the conversion of deb/rpm/arch/slackware/ipk packages to
1.104 +	Slitaz native format. The ISO image includes a new Openbox, GTK and icons
1.105 +	theme for an elegant and more beautiful desktop. We have also removed
1.106 +	ePDFview and switched to an online PDF viewer. This ISO image, however,
1.107 +	is a bit bigger than 30 Mb (31.5) due to a bigger Kernel and many new
1.108 +	dependencies.

1.109 +
We would also like to announce that the SliTaz project has a new
1.110 +	support forum and a new
1.111 +	community platform where
1.112 +	everyone is welcome to share and to get involved! This new Cooking ISO
1.113 +	is as always downloadable from the website download section:

1.118 +

1.119 +	During the LinuxDays show in Switzerland, the association will have a
1.120 +	booth in the Association Village and a lecture will be given on Wednesday
1.121 +	morning. The lecture is a case study with a corporate view based on using a
1.122 +	"SliTaz Business Server" with a switchboard, integrated ERP, mail, LDAP,
1.123 +	etc...
1.124 +

1.125 +

1.126 +	During the 3 days, the exhibition stand will be manned by members
1.127 +	of the SliTaz project. The booth will offer demonstrations, including the
1.128 +	creation of bootable USB keys (LiveUSB) and cdroms. The LinuxDays LiveCD
1.129 +	will contain a selection of software designed for mobile
1.130 +	use. The exhibition lounge will also have a forum and we will gladly answer
1.131 +	any questions. So feel free to visit us! Information can be found on
1.132 +	SliTaz Labs

1.137 +
16 April 2009 - SliTaz GNU/Linux 2.0 release
1.138 +

1.139 +	The SliTaz project are proud to announce the release of the new stable
1.140 +	version of the distribution - SliTaz GNU/Linux 2.0. This new version is the
1.141 +	result of one year of community work and provides an ultra lightweight, fast,
1.142 +	scalable and stable operating system. SliTaz provides a complete graphical
1.143 +	desktop in less than 30MB, applications required for a reliable and robust
1.144 +	server environment and 1400 easily installable software packages in a few
1.145 +	clicks of the mouse. This new version offers the automounting of partitions
1.146 +	(NTFS compliant), wifi support, an office respecting the Freedesktop.org
1.147 +	standards (drag and drop), network booting with gPXE and
1.148 +	boot.slitaz.org, automatic detection
1.149 +	of USB and PCI devices, a GUI package manager and control center, and various
1.150 +	graphical tools to manage the distribution. The creation of USB media and
1.151 +	bootable LiveCD flavors is also simplified and greatly improved. The core
1.152 +	LiveCD includes Firefox 3.0.8, gFTP, LostIRC, ePDFView, mtPaint, Transmission,
1.153 +	Osmo and Alsaplayer. The website documentation has been updated and you can read the
1.154 +	release notes included in
1.155 +	the distribution for more details on this stable version. SliTaz GNU/Linux
1.156 +	2.0 is now downloadable from the official mirrors of
1.157 +	the project.

1.160 +
27 March 2009 - Labs and new mirrors
1.161 +	Continually seeking to improve the distribution and the services we offer,
1.162 +	we are proud to announce the launch of SliTaz Labs.
1.163 +	This platform makes it possible for contributors to collaborate more
1.164 +	effectively, report bugs or request new features. The Labs provide each
1.165 +	project with a wiki, a
1.166 +	bug/issues tracker, news, etc.
1.167 +	The laboratories provide an overview of activity on the project and
1.168 +	track the release of regular updates. Register to participate and
1.169 +	leave a comment. The project is also proud to announce 2 new mirrors:
1.170 +	In Switzerland, hosted by SWITCHmirror
1.171 +	(10 Gbits/s) and hosted in China by LupaWorld,
1.172 +	thanks for supporting us.

1.176 +	The SliTaz project will be present at Solutionslinux 2009 in Paris.
1.177 +	The stand will be hosted by 3 members of the team during the 3 day
1.178 +	event and several other contributors will be present at some point.
1.179 +	There you will have the opportunity to test various machines, EeePC
1.180 +	for example, create a USB key (bring one with you) or to buy USB keys
1.181 +	or bootable LiveCDs. You can also learn about the project and make

1.188 +
28 Feb 2009 - New Cooking 20090228
1.189 +	Getting ready for the next stable release! - The SliTaz project is proud
1.190 +	to publish a new Cooking version with a lot of bug fixes, updates, improvements
1.191 +	and new features. PCI/USB device auto-detection is now handled by Tazhw and
1.192 +	firmware can be installed in one click through a graphical interface.
1.193 +	Tazndis also has a simple GUI which lets you manage Windows drivers in a
1.194 +	user friendly interface. The graphical packages manager is also much simpler
1.195 +	to use and LiveUSB media such as a USB key can easily be created through a box.
1.196 +	Netbox displays all interfaces and the new Wifibox can connect to
1.197 +	wireless essids, manage favorite networks and configure card drivers
1.198 +	manually or through Tazhw. The desktop has a GUI to enable or disable
1.199 +	applications started with an Openbox session and Ivman with desktopkbox
1.200 +	provides a lightweight notification system. You can
1.201 +	download this new ISO image from one of the
