al@1025 29 <strong>4 November 2010 - New Cooking 20101104</strong>
pankso@923 30 <p>The SliTaz team is pleased to announce the release of a new cooking ISO
pankso@923 31 featuring over 2600 packages. It contains Linux Kernel 2.6.34 and was
pankso@923 32 rebuilt with a new toolchain using glibc 2.11.2 and gcc 4.5.1. Xorg has
pankso@923 33 been fully updated to 1.9.2. The LiveCD includes Midori, the Deadbeef audio
pankso@923 34 player, and many more applications. Tazpkg and Tazctrlbox now support
pankso@923 35 gettext translations and more UTF locales have been added. Many bugfixes,
al@1038 36 updates and improvements can also be found. A lot of work has been done
pascal@1253 37 during these past 6 months. You can <a href="../get/#cooking">download</a>
pankso@923 38 this new cooking version from one of the official mirrors of the project.

al@1025 54 <strong>28 March 2010 - SliTaz GNU/Linux 3.0 release</strong>
al@1038 55 <p>All of the SliTaz team are proud to announce the release of the SliTaz
al@1038 56 GNU/Linux 3.0 operating system. It's simpler, faster, customizable,
al@1038 57 mightier and yet incredibly tiny. The new SliTaz stable version is now
pankso@923 58 out after one year of development.</p>
al@1038 59 <p>The core desktop provides a fully featured desktop powered by Xorg 7.4,
pankso@923 60 Openbox, LXDE components and home made tools. It lets you easily connect to
pankso@923 61 the Internet to surf the web with the Midori web browser, listen to music
pankso@923 62 or manage your pictures.</p>
al@1038 63 <p>The default core system fits into a 30 MB ISO image and LiveCD flavors
pankso@923 64 start at 8 MB. This stable version has been built by a new toolchain including
al@1038 65 GCC 4.4.1 and uses the Linux kernel 2.6.30.6. You can read the full

al@1025 72 <strong>14 March 2010 - RC series and Solutionslinux 2010 (Paris)</strong>
pankso@923 73 <p>Since we're getting closer to the next stable release, we have updated the
pankso@923 74 core ISO image to start with a RC series. The Major change is the switch to
pankso@923 75 Midori as the default web browser, this will improve user experience and let
pankso@923 76 us keep SliTaz at 30Mb. Midori is a modern browser powered by the webkit engine -
pankso@923 77 it is fast, simple to use and well integrated with the SliTaz desktop.</p>
al@1038 78 <p>This updated ISO comes with a bunch of bug and dependency fixes, we have
al@1038 79 also improved the home made tools and scripts. This new ISO image can be
al@1038 80 downloaded from the SliTaz mirrors (30 Mb):
pankso@923 81 <a href="http://mirror.slitaz.org/iso/cooking/slitaz-cooking.iso">slitaz-cooking.iso</a></p>
al@1038 82 <p>By the way, the SliTaz project will be at
al@1038 83 <a href="http://www.solutionslinux.fr/">Solutionslinux</a> 2010 next
pankso@923 84 week in Paris. You will be able to learn about the project and make
pankso@923 85 contact with members of the association and the development team.</p>

al@1025 89 <strong>21 February 2010 - New Cooking 20100221</strong>
pankso@923 90 <p>SliTaz contributors are proud to announce a new Cooking version of the
pankso@923 91 LiveCD. This is the last Cooking RC before 3.0 is released. The core ISO image
pankso@923 92 is at 27 MB and comes with many changes and improvments. This Cooking uses
pankso@923 93 Xorg as X server instead of Xvesa and provides full UTF-8 support. With
pankso@923 94 a clean desktop environment, it also provides many applications for daily
pankso@923 95 usage and common tasks. Netsurf replaces firefox as the default web browser.
al@1038 96 Nevertheless, a Firefox flavor at 29 Mb with sound and wifi support can
pankso@923 97 also be downloaded from the official mirrors.</p>
al@1038 98 <p>On the updates and improvements side: tazpkg is faster, boot-scripts are
pankso@923 99 updated and home-made toolboxes are improved. Wifibox uses awk for better
pankso@923 100 network scanning. WPA support in the boot scripts have been improved. Boot
al@1038 101 time is logged for performance measuring. The SliTaz installer will now
paul@1202 102 try to use files from a USB device if no cdrom is found, allow you to
pankso@923 103 create a default user account, set a root password and use a separate /home
pankso@923 104 partition. And finally, LiveCD customization is now much easier: users
pankso@923 105 just have to boot, modify and use writefs via the Tazlito graphical interface
pankso@923 106 or from the command line to generate their own customized CD.</p>
pankso@923 107 <p>As usual, you can <a href="../get/#cooking">download</a> these new
pankso@923 108 flavors from one of the official mirrors of the project and provide feedback
pankso@923 109 on the SliTaz forum.</p>
