pankso@909 69 <p>The SliTaz team is pleased to announce the release of a new cooking ISO
pankso@909 70 featuring over 2600 packages. It contains Linux Kernel 2.6.34 and was
pankso@909 71 rebuilt with a new toolchain using glibc 2.11.2 and gcc 4.5.1. Xorg has
pankso@909 72 been fully updated to 1.9.2. The LiveCD includes Midori, the Deadbeef audio
pankso@909 73 player, and many more applications. Tazpkg and Tazctrlbox now support
pankso@909 74 gettext translations and more UTF locales have been added. Many bugfixes,
pankso@909 75 updates and improvements can also be found. A lot of work has been done
pankso@909 76 during these past 6 months. You can <a href="get/#cooking>">download</a>
pankso@909 77 this new cooking version from one of the official mirrors of the project.
pankso@909 78 All feedback is welcome and can be done through the mailing list or
pankso@909 79 the forum.</p>

pankso@909 91 <li><strong>28 March 2010 - SliTaz GNU/Linux 3.0 release</strong>
pankso@909 92 <p>All of the SliTaz team are proud to announce the release of the SliTaz
pankso@909 93 GNU/Linux 3.0 operating system. It's simpler, faster, customizable,
pankso@909 94 mightier and yet incredibly tiny. The new SliTaz stable version is now
pankso@909 95 out after one year of development.</p>
pankso@909 96 <p>The core desktop provides a fully featured desktop powered by Xorg 7.4,
pankso@909 97 Openbox, LXDE components and home made tools. It lets you easily connect to
pankso@909 98 the Internet to surf the web with the Midori web browser, listen to music
pankso@909 99 or manage your pictures.</p>
pankso@909 100 <p>The default core system fits into a 30 MB ISO image and LiveCD flavors
pankso@909 101 start at 8 MB. This stable version has been built by a new toolchain including
pankso@909 102 GCC 4.4.1 and uses the Linux kernel 2.6.30.6. You can read the full
pankso@909 103 <a href="../doc/releases/3.0/relnotes.en.html">Releases Notes</a> for more
pankso@909 104 information and <a href="../get/#stable>">download</a> a LiveCD image from the
pankso@909 105 SliTaz mirrors.</p>

pankso@909 108 <li><strong>14 March 2010 - RC series and Solutionslinux 2010 (Paris)</strong>
pankso@909 109 <p>Since we're getting closer to the next stable release, we have updated the
pankso@909 110 core ISO image to start with a RC series. The Major change is the switch to
pankso@909 111 Midori as the default web browser, this will improve user experience and let
pankso@909 112 us keep SliTaz at 30Mb. Midori is a modern browser powered by the webkit engine -
pankso@909 113 it is fast, simple to use and well integrated with the SliTaz desktop.</p>
pankso@909 114 <p>This updated ISO comes with a bunch of bug and dependency fixes, we have
pankso@909 115 also improved the home made tools and scripts. This new ISO image can be
pankso@909 116 downloaded from the SliTaz mirrors (30 Mb):
pankso@909 117 <a href="http://mirror.slitaz.org/iso/cooking/slitaz-cooking.iso">slitaz-cooking.iso</a></p>
pankso@909 118 <p>By the way, the SliTaz project will be at
pankso@909 119 <a href="http://www.solutionslinux.fr/">Solutionslinux</a> 2010 next
pankso@909 120 week in Paris. You will be able to learn about the project and make
pankso@909 121 contact with members of the association and the development team.</p>

pankso@909 124 <li><strong>21 February 2010 - New Cooking 20100221</strong>
pankso@909 125 <p>SliTaz contributors are proud to announce a new Cooking version of the
pankso@909 126 LiveCD. This is the last Cooking RC before 3.0 is released. The core ISO image
pankso@909 127 is at 27 MB and comes with many changes and improvments. This Cooking uses
pankso@909 128 Xorg as X server instead of Xvesa and provides full UTF-8 support. With
pankso@909 129 a clean desktop environment, it also provides many applications for daily
pankso@909 130 usage and common tasks. Netsurf replaces firefox as the default web browser.
pankso@909 131 Nevertheless, a Firefox flavor at 29 Mb with sound and wifi support can
pankso@909 132 also be downloaded from the official mirrors.</p>
pankso@909 133 <p>On the updates and improvements side: tazpkg is faster, boot-scripts are
pankso@909 134 updated and home-made toolboxes are improved. Wifibox uses awk for better
pankso@909 135 network scanning. WPA support in the boot scripts have been improved. Boot
pankso@909 136 time is logged for performance measuring. The SliTaz installer will now
pankso@909 137 try to use files from an USB device if no cdrom is found, allow you to
pankso@909 138 create a default user account, set a root password and use a separate /home
pankso@909 139 partition. And finally, LiveCD customization is now much easier: users
pankso@909 140 just have to boot, modify and use writefs via the Tazlito graphical interface
pankso@909 141 or from the command line to generate their own customized CD.</p>
pankso@909 142 <p>As usual, you can <a href="../get/#cooking">download</a> these new
pankso@909 143 flavors from one of the official mirrors of the project and provide feedback
pankso@909 144 on the SliTaz forum.</p>
