paul@241 20 The SliTaz project is proud to announce a new Cooking version of the
paul@247 21 LiveCD. It allows you to utilize and test the work done in recent
paul@247 22 months, it contains many new features, bug fixes and several
paul@247 23 updates. The distribution now includes a tiny control center, easily
paul@247 24 managed WiFi via Netbox and tazndis, a lighter version of
paul@247 25 ndiswrapper to use non-free Windows network card drivers. Perl is
paul@247 26 now on the cdrom (with Lua removed). WiFi support is also
paul@247 27 accompanied by support for NTFS partitions, so mplayer had to be
paul@247 28 dropped from the default packages that make up the heart of the
paul@247 29 LiveCD. The Tazpkg manager has been greatly improved, it allows the
paul@247 30 preservation of configuration files, software to be updated
paul@247 31 according to the construction (build) date on the server, log files
paul@247 32 to be kept when the packages are actioned, and several fixes have
paul@247 33 been applied. Also improved are the boot scripts, and the LiveCD
paul@247 34 tool (Tazlito) is now more coherent. The Cooking repository now
paul@247 35 contains more than 1100 packages thanks to the SliTaz developers.
paul@247 36 You can download this new version from one of the official mirrors
paul@247 37 of the project.

paul@247 47 SliTaz project members are proud to announce the availability of a
paul@247 48 new Cooking version, including many new features and bug fixes. This
paul@247 49 version provides the boot option web which lets you boot SliTaz from
paul@247 50 the internet using gPXE from boot.slitaz.org. This new unique
paul@247 51 service offers the possibility to use SliTaz in Live mode
paul@247 52 (all in RAM), using the Live options to store your data permanently
paul@247 53 and preconfigure the system. This new Cooking takes an extra 3 Mb so
paul@247 54 we can provide: a multimedia player with MPlayer, a notes manager
paul@247 55 with Notecase, a new version of Tazpkg package manager with md5sum
paul@247 56 support, XFS filesystem support built into the Kernel, a 'man'
paul@247 57 command and a few updates. This version requires at least 160 Mb to
paul@247 58 boot and run properly, we offer loram flavors for machines with less
paul@247 59 resources.

paul@127 68 <description>
paul@127 69 Summer time is here and also the new Cooking from the 26 June. A lot
paul@247 70 of work has been done to improve user experience. This Cooking
paul@247 71 version provides a new Kernel (2.6.25.5) with many new built-in
paul@247 72 drivers and modules, linux package was also split to have a fairly
paul@247 73 modular Kernel.Default user has changed to tux and the new option
paul@127 74 user=name lets you choose the default user name. Most
paul@127 75 of the Slitaz utils and tools have been improved: tazpkgbox provides
paul@247 76 some new commands for package management and bootfloppybox can be
paul@247 77 used in text mode, Netbox wifi and PPPoE support are now both
paul@247 78 working well and a new function called zeroconf is available. Most
paul@247 79 packages are up-to-date and Firefox 3.0 is part of the 25.2 Mb ISO.
paul@247 80 Cooking version can be downloaded from SliTaz mirror. Bugs can be
paul@247 81 reported on SliTaz Bug Tracking System.
